Pen is mightier than the sword

English novelist and dramatist Edward George Earle Lytton Bulwer-Lytton (1803–1873) uttered the wise words “The pen is mightier than the sword” in 1839 for his play Richelieu; Or the Conspiracy:
Dan Scott's QuillTrue, This! —
Beneath the rule of men entirely great,
The pen is mightier than the sword. Behold
The arch-enchanters wand! — itself a nothing! —
But taking sorcery from the master-hand
To paralyse the Cæsars, and to strike
The loud earth breathless! — Take away the sword —
States can be saved without it!
Indeed, politicians often are at the sharp end of the newspaper quills, such as at Global Research, ProPublica and Rolling Stone. They (the politicians) should take in the wise words from another old enemy of theirs, Napoleon Bonaparte: “Four hostile newspapers are more to be feared than a thousand bayonets.”
Time will tell how well journalists have been sharpening their words against the blunt ideas of the elected. Of course, you can follow the mood on the top political blogs but blogs still have some way to go to reach the edge that newspapers still swing. And to think the end of newspapers – and the end of the book – has been predicted since the dawn of the personal computer. Alas, thanks to their online presence, newspapers actually have more readers than ever before.
Books are doing pretty well too. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling became the world’s first billionaire writer. She sold many times more books than the next two best sellers, Enid Blyton and Theodor Seuss Geise (Dr Seuss), who have an estimated 100 million sales each. Really good numbers. Unless you are the villain in the story.

A cellphone that runs on Coca-Cola... ?

A cellphone that runs on Coca-Cola!

Designer Daizi Zheng brings us an interesting concept: a Nokia phone that runs on Coca-Cola. Yes, you read right. It may sound incredible, but it seems this eco-friendly cellphone model really works.

The designer has called it Nokia‘green’phone and it works generating electricity through carbohydrates such as the sugar contained in this and other similar drinks. It does not pollute because the end-product of the process is water and oxygen. And to top it all off, Daizi herself assures us that this completely biodegradable battery can last up to 3 and 4 times the normal life of lithium batteries. We’ll just have to find out.

Music can be so powerful it can affect your mood, brainwaves, and even your heartbeat! It turns out that when we listen to music our body reacts to the sounds we hear.

Music is so influential it can alter your heartbeat, pulse rate, blood pressure, decrease your muscle tension, and even affect your body movement and coordination !!!

If a person listens to rock or techno, their heartbeat will involuntarily speed up. The opposite is true if someone listens to more calming or instrumental music

- It takes the Hubble telescope about 97 minutes to complete an orbit of the Earth.
- On average, the Hubble uses the equivilent amount of energy as 30 household light bulbs to complete an orbit.
- Believe it or not, but a solid gold pin is attached to the floating space observatory to help anchor the telescope in the space shuttle's cargo bay.
- The farthest objects Hubble has seen are Galaxies forming when the universe, which formed about 13.7 billion years ago, was about 700 million years old.
- According to all-inclusive estimates, NASA has spent around $10 billion to build, launch, operate and service the telescope over the past 19 years.

Passengers of crashed plane survived by eating the bodies of dead passengers...?

passengerd of crashed plane survived by eating the bodies of dead passengers..

In 1972, a plane carrying a rugby team from Uruguay crashed in the Andes mountains. Of 45 passengers, only 16 survived the 70 days on the mountain. Their food supply quickly depleted, and rather than starve to death, they made the grisly decision to eat the bodies of their dead companions. This cannibalism has been hyped extensively as an act of bravery, but the enormous faith that they placed in God and man, enabling them to withstand stunning hardship, was even more inspiring. In addition to starvation, they experienced horrific weather conditions, an avalanche, injuries, and despair, and incredibly, their endurance and will to live triumphed

DID YOU KNOW 'The Friesian' :- one of the most expensive horse breed!!!

The Friesian :- one of the most expensive horse breed!!!

The Friesian (also Frisian) is a horse breed originating in Friesland, Netherlands. Although the breed's conformation resembles that of a light draft horse, Friesians are graceful and nimble for their size. During the Middle Ages, it is believed that the ancestors of Friesian horses were in great demand as war horses throughout continental Europe. Through the Early Middle Ages and High Middle Ages, their size enabled them to carry a knight in armor. In the Late Middle Ages, heavier, draft type animals were needed. Though the breed nearly became extinct on more than one occasion, the modern day Friesian horse is growing in numbers and popularity, used both in harness and under saddle. Most recently, the breed is being introduced to the field of dressage.

Jesus Lizard : Lizard that can walk / run on water

Jesus Lizard : Lizard that can walk / run on water

Basilisks have the unique ability to "walk" on water and, because of this, they have been dubbed as "The Jesus Christ lizard" in reference to the biblical passage of Matthew 14:22-34.[3] On water, the basilisk can run at a velocity of 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) per second for approximately 4.5 meters (14.8 feet) before sinking on all fours and swimming. Flaps between their toes help support the basilisk, creating a larger surface and a pocket of air. They can also sustain themselves on all fours while "water-walking" to increase time above the surface by about 1.3 meters (4.3 feet).

did you know ,the most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated...?

Tsar Bomba : the most powerful nuclear weapon ever detonated

Developed by the Soviet Union, the bomb was originally designed to have a yield of about 100 megatons of TNT (420 PJ), but the yield was reduced to 50 megatons in order to reduce nuclear fallout. This attempt was successful, as it was one of the cleanest (relative to its yield) nuclear bombs ever detonated. This is equivalent to 1,400 times the combined power of the bombs that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 10 times the combined power of all the explosives used in WWII, or one quarter of the estimated yield of the 1883 eruption of Krakatoa.
The fireball reached nearly as high as the altitude of the release plane and was seen almost 1,000 kilometres (620 mi) from ground zero. The subsequent mushroom cloud was about 64 kilometres (40 mi) high (nearly eight times the height of Mount Everest), which meant that the cloud was well inside the mesosphere when it peaked. The base of the cloud was 40 kilometres (25 mi) wide. All buildings in the village of Severny (both wooden and brick), located 55 kilometres (34 mi) from ground zero within the Sukhoy Nos test range, were completely destroyed. In districts hundreds of kilometers from ground zero, wooden houses were destroyed, stone ones lost their roofs, windows and doors; and radio communications were interrupted for almost one hour. One participant in the test saw a bright flash through dark goggles and felt the effects of a thermal pulse even at a distance of 270 kilometres (170 mi). The heat from the explosion could have caused third-degree burns 100 km (62 mi) away from ground zero. A shock wave was observed in the air at Dikson settlement 700 kilometres (430 mi) away; windowpanes were partially broken to distances of 900 kilometres (560 mi). Atmospheric focusing caused blast damage at even greater distances, breaking windows in Norway and Finland.

The search for the Titanic was actually a cover-up mission to search for 2 nuclear subslost in the 1960s!

The search for the Titanic was actually a cover-up mission to search for 2 nuclear subslost in the 1960s!

In 1985, oceanographer Bob Ballard discovered the most famous shipwreck in history, The Titanic. What you may not know is that he was actually covering up a top-secret mission for the U.S. government.

He was hired because of his advanced robotics submarine. He was asked to check on the status of 2 nuclear subs that sank in the 1960s, the USS Thresher and the USS Scorpion. The issue was that the government didn't want the Soviets to know that they were looking for the subs. They thought that the excuse of searching for the Titanic wreck would be a good explanation for an increased presence of US ships in the area.

In return for his service, the government agreed to fund Ballard's search for the Titanic and a documentary on it. He had only 12 days left in his Navy contract after finding the two subs. He was able to use the lessons he learned in finding the nuclear subs to locate the Titanic, a feat that had taken decades to achieve.

Fact on Moon...!!

Fact on Moon...!!

The Moon's orbit (its circular path around the Earth) is indeedgetting larger, at a rate of about 3.8 centimeters per year. (The Moon's orbit has a radius of 384,000 km.) The reason for the increase is that the Moon raises tides on the Earth. Because the side of the Earth that faces the Moon is closer, it feels a stronger pull of gravity than the center of the Earth.

Similarly, the part of the Earth facing away from the Moon feels less gravity than the center of the Earth. This effect stretches the Earth a bit, makingit a little bit oblong.
It is expected that in 15 billion years, the orbit will stabilize at 1.6 times its present size, and the Earth day will be 55 days long equal to the time it will take the Moon to orbit the Earth.

EcoAlert: ISS Camera to Provide World's Real-Time Climate Data

NASA announced plans last week to send a new telescopic camera to the International Space Station to give developing countries critical new environmental data on forest fires, floods, volcanoes, droughts, hurricanes and landslides in Central America, Africa and Asia.

ISERV is NASA's abbreviation for the new camera designed and built at Marshall Space Flight Center to record those changes. Once it's aboard the station, the camera will obtain near-real-time data, NASA says. It will be able to "see" 90 percent of the Earth's land mass and 95 percent of its populated areas, according to lead scientist Burgess Howell at NASA Huntsville. SERVIR can show officials the scope of a natural event and its effect on regional resources such as drinking water
